Recirculation Systems for Tankless Heaters in West Des Moines
Tankless heaters can take a few extra seconds to deliver hot water to distant fixtures. A recirculation pump or dedicated return line keeps hot water close to faucets, reducing wait time and water waste. Some units have built-in pumps with smart scheduling. We design the system to suit your plumbing layout and usage patterns.
Tankless Water Heater Replacement in West Des Moines, IA

Tank to Tankless Conversions in West Des Moines
Converting from a tank requires more than swapping units. A 40 gallon tank heater uses roughly 40,000 BTU, while a whole-home tankless unit may need up to 199,000 BTU, so the gas line usually needs to be upsized. Venting changes from a metal flue to PVC or stainless, and the unit moves to a wall location. We remove and haul away your old tank and patch the old flue penetration.

From restaurants to hair salons, we install heavy-duty systems designed to meet high-demand commercial needs. Our team manages the entire conversion, including the safe removal and disposal of your old water heater, limiting disruption to your daily routine.
Tankless vs Tank Cost Comparison in West Des Moines, IA
Tankless installation costs more upfront than a standard tank because of the unit price, gas line upgrades and venting changes. Over time, lower standby energy losses and a longer expected lifespan offset part of that cost. Tankless units often last 15 to 20 years with proper descaling, compared with about 8 to 12 years for many tanks in hard water areas. We give you a side-by-side quote so you can decide what fits your budget.
Hard Water Protection for Tankless Units in West Des Moines, IA
Calcium scale is the leading cause of tankless heater failure. Water softeners are a standard upgrade in Iowa homes, helping protect tank water heaters, faucets, and appliances from mineral damage. Scale coats the heat exchanger, reducing efficiency and triggering error codes. We install isolation valves so the unit can be flushed with a vinegar or descaling solution once a year. A scale inhibitor cartridge or whole-home softener provides extra protection.

Yes, tankless water heaters are very energy efficient in almost any climate. A long heating season keeps water heaters and boilers working hard, while summer humidity can cause sweating pipes and damp basements. Since they only heat water on demand, they avoid the standby heat loss typical of traditional tanks, which can be substantial even in milder seasons.
